TOILETRIES AND HEALTH CARE

Overview

In Toiletries, we market raw materials for detergents and cleaners, surfactants used in toiletry products such as shampoos and hair conditioners, and other products. Surfactants have been a core business since the foundation of Sanyo Chemical.
The Health Care segment includes Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs), which are essential for the manufacture of disposable diapers, for which global demand is growing rapidly, especially in emerging countries.

FY2023 Business Performance

28.8%

In the Toiletries segment, both the domestic and global markets for surfactants for liquid laundry detergents and polyethyleneglycol were sluggish and demand fell, causing a decline in sales.

As a result, total net sales in this segment decreased by 19.6% year on year, to ¥45,895 million. Operating loss was ¥1,421 million (compared to operating profit of ¥23 million during the previous fiscal year).
